The
term 'holistic' comes from the Greek word 'holos' meaning whole. The holistic
approach takes into account the person's whole being, and not just physical
symptoms or problems. Treatment thus takes into account the effect on the body
arising from psychological, environmental and nutritional factors.
Massage
is a form of soft tissue manipulation, which has evolved over 4000 years. Cultures all over the world
and throughout the centuries have used massage to relieve pain and anxiety and
to stimulate circulation and tone body systems.
Holistic massage treats
each person individually in the context of his or her own life and aims to induce physical and mental relaxation and promote
well being by stroking,
kneading or pressing the soft tissues of the body.
